Free School Meals

We are delighted to be able to provide all our pupils with a free healthy snack and free hot meal each day that they are in school. Pupils receive a health snack each day for their small break which usually consists of some of the following: fresh fruit, yoghurt rice cakes, bread sticks, mini Flavahans flapjacks, Cheerios, pancakes, Cheddar Cheese Sticks, popcorn, pretzels.

For their lunch, each child receives a free hot meal in their classroom. Parents are asked to download an app which they can use to order a hot meal that their child would like to receive. Each day, pupils can pick from 5-6 different options. Some of the options provided include chicken curry and rice, pepperoni and mozzarella ciabattas, breaded chicken with potato cubes & beans, vegan goujons with potato cubes & baked beans, chicken goujon baguette, sausage baguette, roast chicken with mash, veg & gravy. There are also many meal options which are vegan, vegetarian and halal friendly.

We are very aware that many of our pupils have food allergens. When a parent first registers their child, they will be able to select any allergens that their child may have. Once these allergens are saved, parents have the option to select from a choice of items that do not contain this allergen.

This year, we are using ‘The Lunch bag’ to provide all these nutritious, healthy and delicious meals. All meals are prepared in their award winning premises. Each lunch is individually made with love by parents and grandparents in their state of the art, sterile and friendly kitchens. Their kitchens are 100% nut free, no nuts are allowed in their production facility under any conditions. Furthermore, they ensure that any produce supplied is 100% nut free. Their Bord Bia approved meat is sourced from ‘Farney Foods’, Carrickmacross and ‘McCaughey Foods’, Castleblayney. All their bags, sandwich wedges, and cutlery are 100% compostable.

These healthy snacks and tasty hot meals provide our pupils with the necessary fuel to help ensure that they reach their full educational potential. Have a look at some of the photographs to see how happy our pupils are when they receive these meals each day.
